I don’t venture into the realm of the abstract often enough and when I do, the source is fairly self-explanatory. I adore butterflies. So delicate and vulnerable and pretty. Until you see them up close. Then they become wonderful, dangerous, alien – scales, hairs, proboscii. I love the showy vibrancy of their colours and the sudden, beautiful savagery of their patterns. The magnificent, magnified. Great to take something so small and delicate and explode it over a square metre!
